In the Spirit of giving occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, Youth Corpers deployed to Odi-Olowo Local Community Development Authority (LCDA) have donated relief packages to residents of the area, through the Lagos State Ministry for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations .
Receiving the 500 food packs on behalf of the LCDA, the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins gave kudos to the Corpers, stressing that they are, through the gesture, exhibiting their humanity and good leadership qualities.
The Commissioner, who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Yusuph Jimoh, appreciated the Corpers for showing kindness to the residents out of the little they have, adding that no sacrifice will go unrewarded.
While noting that the State Government had, during the lockdown provided palliatives, such as food items, face masks and hand sanitisers to Lagosians, Bamgbose-Martins called on corporate organisations and individuals to emulate the deed of the Corpers by committing themselves to help the aged, vulnerable and needy in the society.
On his own part, the Chairman of Odi-Olowo LCDA, Rasaq Olusola Ajala, expressed his appreciation to the Corpers and assured that the residents of the LCDA would continue to be hospitable to all visitors as well as give necessary support and assistance to them when the need arises.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Edwin Chinedu Megwa, requested that all parents should be encouraged by the action of the Corpers, stressing that their effort should be commended and encouraged.
He, therefore, called on the residents of Odi-Olowo to show appreciation to the Corpers, adding that the NYSC members should be given the appropriate support and assistance in the community.z
