… To Divert Traffic from the Road for 12 Months
The Lagos State Government has announced the commencement of the rehabilitation of the failed section of Iyana-Era Road and the construction of a 20-metre bridge, just as it informed that traffic would be diverted in the axis from midnight of Friday, September 24, 2021, for a period of 12 months.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, explained that the construction is vital to addressing the factors responsible for the rapid and frequent deterioration of that section of the road, stressing that the portions before and after the existent culverts had submerged into the surrounding swam, hence the need for a bridge.
The Commissioner further noted that motorists heading towards Shibiri, Ajangbadi and Igbogbo axis will be diverted at Era-Adaloko Roundabout into a contraflow on the Badagry bound lane to minimise inconveniences during the course of the repairs.
Oladeinde gave assurance that the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) would be available to direct traffic while road signs will be strategically placed to guide vehicular movement during the stipulated period.
The State Government also solicited the cooperation of residents for a successful completion of the project, reiterating its continuous commitment towards the development of transport infrastructure across the Lagos.
