Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency Board members with a charge to the appointees to take full responsibility for the protection of Lagosians against hazardous and substandard products.
Speaking during the inauguration which took place at the State House Ikeja, the Governor said that the constitution of the new Board members and their inauguration came at an auspicious time when all hands must deck to maximise the gains of a rapidly growing economy like Lagos.
“As a progressive government that is conscious of the huge responsibility that comes with building a megacity, all the members were carefully appointed because they possessed the wherewithal to function optimally”.
The Governor expressed absolute trust in the members to discharge their duties with a high sense of responsibility towards ensuring that the vision and mission for which the Agency was established are achieved.
Sanwo-Olu urged the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency Board members to do all within the ambit of the law to effectively control the rate at which expired and substandard products, as well as services, are being sold to unsuspecting members of the public.
“In accordance with making Lagos a 21st-century economy, which is one of the pillars of our administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, I implore you to use your new office to seamlessly engage consumers of goods and services, manufacturers and other stakeholders in order to acquaint them with the policies of this administration”, he averred.
The 12-member LASCOPA Board include Mrs. Olufunmilola Falana, Board Chairman; Afolabi Adebayo Solebo Esq., General Manager (LASCOPA) and Arinola Momoh-Ayokanmbi Esq., Board Secretary. Others are Mr. Abuldwazee Adedoyin Banjo, Dr. Dayo Lajide, Folashade Aina Thomas-Organ, Mr. Femi Awogbami, Mr. Niyi Fabikun, Mrs. Faderera Lekan-Rotimi, Mr. Ayodele Musibau Kusamotu, Mrs. Mosunmola Samuel and Mr. Alayande Olarenwaju.
