Yeloto African Children’s Foundation brought some cheers to youngsters at Korle bu Children’s Hospital.
On Tuesday December 11, 2018, when Yeloto team lead by Dr. Oluyemi Olawaiye, arrived Ghana on a charity mission, little did some indigent Ghanaian kids and their parent know that a helper was around the corner.

The first point of the organizations visit was to the prestigious Korle Bu children’s hospital in Accra.

On the morning of the 12th of December 2018, Dr Oluyemi Olawaiye and Dr. Christian Bannerman (an emergency room physician) were both, invited to citi fm 97.3 FM on Bernard Alve’s show. Arguably Ghana’s number one morning show in recognition and support of Yeloto’s community outreach. The show was lit.

The team then proceeded to Korle bu teaching hospital, where they were conducted on a tour of the pediatric ward by Dr. Ebenezer Badoe, the chief of pediatric department. The findings at the tour of the department informed the donation 25,000 GHC to 15 families at the hospital’s emergency room and NEONATAL intensive care unit.

While the donation was to offset the cost of surgeries for some children, part of it was also to cater to the cost of the diagnosis of others and to settle the total bills of some other kids who were due for discharge but were being held because their parents could not afford to pay the bills.

But for Yeloto foundation’s intervention, the third category of children would not have been released to their parents on account of lack.

The second half of the trip encompassed Yeloto’s visit to Enough Grace Foundation, which was an orphanage located in Awoshie-Accra. The founder described it as a place where they touched orphans(zero) and made them heroes. The orphanage had 147 children; 67 females and 80 males. This included 13 boards and 9 staff members. She however expressed to Yeloto some challenges they had been facing as it pertained to food, stationaries, cosmetics, toiletries, toys, clothing text books, mattress, blankets and sponsors for staff salaries. Some of the financial implication of these concerns were taken by Yeloto with the promise to strengthen the partnership through subsequent donations. In response to which the Orphanage owner sent a message to the to team leader, Dr Yemi Olawaiye.

The message read thus;
“Good morning Dr. Yemi, I am so proud to have a friend like you, one who understands humanity, loves kids and is so down to earth. For all that you and your team have been doing for years for many, I pray from the depths of my heart that may the good Lord have mercy and Grant you ALL of your good heart desires.
You came with warm lovely people as well, may favour be theirs.

When I recover fully, I will go for dancing tutorials and match you when we next meet” Thanks so much. Thanks”.
Dr Olawaiye remarked his humility upon receipt of the message and testified to a renewed commitment to African children sequel to Ghana outreach. Furthermore, he said that to Yeloto would not be deterred from its mission to improve the global competitiveness of African children through the provision of health and education support while expressing gratitude to Dr. Evans Imafidon, Dr. Christian Bannerman and the Yeloto team of volunteers, for making Ghana outreach remarkable.
